Only Bones v.1.6

Lanky loidlings.

Squishy schloompings.

Spiky spa-doo-dlings.

In a space barely larger than her own body, Marina Cherry squeaks, fractures, slips, and reassembles. Fragments of a personal universe lean, leak, pulse, and mutate across the micro-stage.

Only Bones v1.6 is a study of inner multiplicity. Grotesque, tender, absurd, and precise, it conjures the many selves that inhabit a single body. Figures appear and dissolve—monstrous, fragile, ridiculous—each one insisting, however briefly, on its existence.

At once playful and unsettling, the piece teeters on the unmeasurable. It invites the audience into a world where meaning flickers rather than settles, where the familiar body becomes strange.

Developed within the minimalist framework of the Only Bones project, the work stretches constraint into a field of invention. With only one light, no set, no props, no text, no narrative, and a radically limited space, reduction becomes expansion. The less there is, the more can emerge.

Rooted in contortion, acrobatic dance, and physical theatre, Marina Cherry’s practice seeks to make the invisible visible—to give form to the internal, the instinctive, the unspoken. Without telling a linear story, Only Bones v1.6 reveals a condition. One that is deeply personal, and unmistakably shared.

The Only Bones project, initiated by Thomas Monckton, invites solo performers to create within strict, uniform parameters, generating singular works that share a common aesthetic language while remaining radically individual.

Lanky loidlings.

Squishy schloompings.

Spiky spa-doo-dlings.

Only Bones v.1.6

Only Bones Project is a minimalist physical theatre and sparse-video performance project. Using uniform and restrictive parameters solo performers create their own unique live shows with a similar aesthetic. With guidelines of "only one light, no narrative, no set, no props, no text, and all within a limited amount of space”
